This is my 15th year as a public school educator, my 6th year at Leroy Drive Elementary, and I recently completed my Master’s Degree of Education. I have been trained in Orff technique with barred instruments, and have conducted up to 100 students in choirs throughout my career. I enjoy collaborating with other professionals and volunteers in order to provide the most successful opportunities possible for my students in theater, drama, and dance.
Carl Orff, famous music educator, once said, “Tell me, I forget, show me, I remember, involve me, I understand.” Through music, children are drawn to experience literature, science, mathematics, history, foreign languages, physical education, art, and history. Above and beyond all of this, music can be healing, it can lift up the soul, and it has the power to relax, inspire, and connect all of us. This is the very heart of why I teach music.
