New and Exciting News!

We will be welcoming you and your children back with a BRAND NEW PLAYGROUND which is the first big project provided through our Bond Project. You can find more information about all of the exciting investments to come here. Leroy was one of the first schools in the district to receive an investment through the 2024 bond. This summer, crews replaced all playground equipment at our school. The new equipment will support student development by providing safe, modern spaces for play and social interaction. The new equipment also improves accessibility options and ensures student safety.

As part of our first day of school, we’ve planned a celebration with all students. We are so excited for you to see it and for your children to have a beautiful new playspace!

In the next several years, Leroy will see additional bond investments through projects that improve our building exterior and interior, school grounds, IT, safety and security. We’re grateful to the community for investing in our schools by passing the 2024 bond. Stay tuned for updates on future projects!

Students are required to have their district-issued devices each day at school in order to access specific district programs. A Message from Leroy’s New Assistant Principal…

Dear Leroy Families,

I hope this letter finds you and your family excited to return to Leroy Elementary or, like me, enthusiastic to join the Leroy community. My name is Joe Chavez, and I am serving as the new Assistant Principal. I am truly honored to join this community and to support all the students, dedicated staff, and engaged families who make this school so special.

I was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and have been in Colorado for the last twenty-two years. I am a proud father of two sons. Jose is a graduate of Adams 12 and is beginning his second year at CU Boulder. Vicente is a Senior in the district and is beginning to plan his future. My wife, Adria, taught in Adams 12 for many years and is now a Professor of Education at CU Boulder.

With a background in elementary education and 20 years of experience as a teacher and leader, I am dedicated  to creating a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment where all children can thrive. I believe that strong relationships between home and school are the foundation to student success, and I look forward to building those connections with each of you.

At Leroy, I will work closely with our Principal Mrs. Caligiuri, the faculty and staff, and all of you to ensure that our students are not only challenged academically but are also supported socially and emotionally. Together, we will celebrate their successes, guide them through challenges, and help them grow into confident, compassionate learners.

In the coming weeks, I look forward to meeting many of you—whether during drop-off and pick-up, at school events, or simply around the neighborhood. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to introduce yourself, share your thoughts, or just say hello.

Thank you for welcoming me into your school community. I am eager to begin this journey with you and your children, and I am committed to making this school year one of growth and collaboration.

With warm regards,
Joe Chavez
